My paintings explore a future Earth in a time beyond the existence of humans and fauna. But it is not sad. In fact, in this iteration of our beautiful planet (although by this point, it’s technically no longer “ours”), destruction and growth, life and death, dark and light do not equal “good” and “bad”, but in fact coexist in synergistic oneness. A perfect balance. In this future era, Earth has undergone many shifts, several of which are beyond our scientific and intellectual understanding. The cosmos are now nearer; visibly, spatially, and spiritually. Portals hover, reminders that change is imminent. Light–in various forms (source, reaction, and reflection)–is sentient, and the essence of this world.

My current work is about oneness and polarity, and the fragile tension that holds everything in balance. I seek to further understand what it means to be alive by expressing my deeper feelings and emotions as visual metaphors through my paintings. It is my wish to inspire hope in the mind, love in the heart, and magic in the soul. And to remind viewers of the absolute wonder that is our current Earth and the respect and care it deserves.

Biography

Hallie Packard is a Brooklyn-based painter, working primarily with acrylic on canvas.

Growing up with the woods as her playground, she developed a kinship with the natural environment and a deep-seated belief in its magic; a recognition of beauty amidst chaos. Her love for the natural world is the impetus for her work.

Hallie was born in 1991 in New London, Connecticut, and in 1995—covered head to toe in tempera paint—declared herself a “color artist.”

From birth, Hallie struggled with severe hearing loss, and was homeschooled in her early years to compensate. Taught by her mother (dancer/choreographer), she was encouraged to explore her passion for visual arts. In addition to her academic lessons, which were infused with creativity and imagination, she studied at the Mitchell School of Fine Arts as a preteen, gaining her foundational skills in pastel and oil painting.

In time, she began exploring her own style, finding a lasting love for acrylic painting. She attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, but left prematurely, feeling a strong and impatient urge to pursue her career.

In 2013, Hallie’s artwork became the aesthetic core of Boulder, Colorado’s FATE Brewing Co, the town’s bustling central watering hole. Her artistic career blossomed from there.

In 2018, she moved to New York City, where she currently lives and paints. Her work is exhibited regularly throughout the country, as well as in Australia, England, and France.

She is currently painting away in her Brooklyn studio, surrounded by cats and prisms.
